Bartlesville boys, Norman girls win Class 6A titles

The Bartlesville boys, thanks to senior leaders Nathan Lauritsen and James Martinez, won their second consecutive Class 6A title at Edmond Santa Fe High School.

Lauritsen and Martinez went 2-3 behind race winner Jed Helker of Edmond Memorial (15:46). 

A week later, Martinez entered and won the Jenks Half Marathon, running 1:21:40. 

Bartlesville's Rilee Rigdon won the 6A girls race in 18:15.8 and overcame a early deficit to do so. 

Norman put five in the top 16 and won the girls team competition with 52 points. 

Freshman Dejere Himbago of Guymon won the 5A boys race in 15:58 and his margin was 19 seconds. He also led Guymon to the team title. 

Sophomore Laynie Nichols of Claremore ran 19:30 for the 5A girls win.

In Class 4A (on Oct. 21 at Shawnee), freshman Kennadi Price of Weatherford won the 3,200-meter girls race in 11:42. Luke Murphy of Lincoln Christian won the boys race in 16:29.7 and also led his team to the victory.

The boys from Mt. St. Mary put all five scorers in the top 13 on the way to 36 points to claim the 3A team title. Clinton Baird of Holland Hall won the race in 16:48. Mandy Sykora from Marietta won the girls race in 11:53.

Ellie Gilbreath of Regent Prep won the girls 2A race in 11:28 -- faster than the 4A and 3A winners. Colten Brown of Boise City won the boys race in 16:29.5, also faster than the 3A and 4A winners.

Class 6A Girls - Norman 52 points

Class 5A Boys - Guymon 66 points

Class 5A Girls - Bishop Kelley 55 points

Class 4A Boys - Lincoln Christian 44 points

Class 4A Girls (3,200 meters) - Plainview 57 points 

Class 3A Boys - Mt. St. Mary 36 points.

Class 3A Girls (3,200 meters) - Adair Public 102 points (tiebreak winner)

Class 2A Boys - Hooker 109 points

Class 2A Girls - Boise City 45 points
